Alot of the main storyline for Lands of Magic takes place in the western lands.


Jarr
Settled by the Jarrians, this island nation is named for the race that conqured it ages ago. An independent nation since its founding Jarr refused to align itself with its neighboring nations, wishing to remain truly independent. Despite the pressures of other nations, as of present day Jarr has no budged on the issue and Kalis has so far been unwilling to try and take it by force into the fold.

The Freelands
The Freelands are really the reason why Jarr is still fully independent. The Freelands are a strange place where there is no governing body. People are left to their own devices to settle their matters. In general, people form groups and settle their problems as a collective, settling all matters through arbitration based on fairness or in a show of hands. The Freelands have almost no cities and very limited technological advances, but they do form a barrier between Kalis and Jarr which Kalis is unwilling to push through.

Deathlands
Despite the harsh name, Deathlands is a highly civialized nation. It is so named because a little over half of the nation is desert. Even that isn’t so bad. Where the name really comes from is the desert at the center of the country known as Death Sands. It has existed since before the nation was founded and will continue to be after the rest of the world as turned to dust, or so say the people of Deathlands.

Slavelands
Like Deathlands, Slavelands doesn’t actually deserve its harsh name… any longer at least. It was so named an age ago when the land’s major labor force was slaves taken from the large island to the south of the mainland country. In recent times the two peoples have settled their differences and begun to intermix. The name is kept as a reminder of the past so that people don’t forget.

Westfeld
A break away land from Kalis, Westfeld is virtually identical to its parent nation in terms of society and culture. Since the break they have fallen slightly behind in terms of technology and study, but Kalis has been more than willing to exchange its own advances for Westfeld’s resources. Mostly plains with forests to the south and a small mountain range in the north, Westfeld has a little touch of everything.

Kalis
Every group of nations has one that all of the others look to in times of trouble. Kalis is that nation for the western continent. Kalis is the oldest nation and in true the origin point for all the other nations surrounding it. Westfeld, Deathlands, and Slavelands all used to be part of Kalis in ages past. According to the records in the oldest libraries in Kalis, the nations separated during the Ether Wars, when the world and the heavens fought an open war for an age.

Que-Esh Home
The home of the Que-Esh, a reclusive species of merfolk. Not much is know about them, and less about their under water kingdom.
